When the evenings get darker, it's very easy to close the door and stay inside until spring.
We thought we'd do something different.
Forest & Fire Pit Nights are small evening gatherings created by Wild Isle to give us another reason to get outside during the darker months.
We'll walk through the woods as daylight disappears, then return to gather around the fire.
Something warm to drink. A big cookie. Marshmallows toasted over the flames. Good company and nowhere else you need to be for a couple of hours.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF NIGHT OUT
No packed itinerary.
No rushing from one activity to another.
And definitely no need to dress up.
We'll meet at the Green Wood Centre in Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge, before heading into the woodland together for a relaxed 35–40 minute walk.
As darkness settles over the woods, we'll make our way back to the fire pit.
Find somewhere to sit, get warm and order your drink.
We'll bring around a large bakery-made cookie while the drinks are being made and later we'll get the marshmallows out for toasting.
Then there's nothing particularly complicated to do.
Sit.
Talk.
Watch the fire.
And enjoy being outside.
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
Your Forest & Fire Pit Night lasts approximately two hours and includes:
A woodland walk after dark
A relaxed 35–40 minute walk through the woods as daylight disappears.
Time around the fire
Settle around the fire pit for the rest of the session.

Take a little bit of the evening home.
Everyone joining a Forest & Fire Pit Night receives their own Wild Isle Fireside Pack.
We're filling it with a small collection of things inspired by evenings outdoors – including something warm, something sweet and a few Wild Isle touches.
Keep it for your next cold evening outside, take it camping, put it in the campervan or open it when you get home.
We won't judge.
OUR FIRST WOODLAND HOME
Green Wood Centre, Ironbridge TF8 7DR
Our first Forest & Fire Pit Nights take place at the Green Wood Centre in Coalbrookdale, in the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge.
It's a fitting place to start.
Woodland, changing seasons, traditional woodland skills and a long connection with people who work with and care for woods.
We'll meet here before heading into the woodland and return to the fire pit for the second half of the evening.

GIVING SOMETHING BACK TO THE WOODS
The Green Wood Centre is home to Small Woods, a charity supporting small woodlands and the people who care for them.
Forest & Fire Pit Nights give us an opportunity to enjoy these woods after dark.
We'd also like to give our guests the opportunity to put something back.
During your evening you'll be able to find out more about the work of Small Woods and, if you'd like to, make an optional donation directly to the charity.
There's absolutely no obligation.
Across the season, we'll keep track of what our Forest & Fire Pit guests raise together and share the final total.
SMALL BY DESIGN
There are only 20 places available for each session.
That's deliberate.
We don't want Forest & Fire Pit Nights to become big outdoor events.
They're intended to feel like a small group of people heading into the woods together and coming back to sit around a fire.
Our Ironbridge evenings have two sessions:
Early Fire Pit
5.00pm–7.00pm
Late Fire Pit
8pm–10pm
Check-in opens 15 minutes before your session and the woodland walk leaves promptly at the start time.

COME ON YOUR OWN
You don't need to arrive as part of a group.
Come with your partner.
Bring a friend.
Get a few people together.
Or simply come on your own.
Forest & Fire Pit Nights are intended to be relaxed and sociable, with the walk and fire giving everyone something to gather around.
These evenings are for guests aged 18 and over.
DOGS ARE WELCOME TOO
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at selected Forest & Fire Pit Nights.
Dogs must remain on a lead during the woodland walk and around the fire pit, and owners should consider whether their dog will be comfortable around darkness, woodland noises, groups of people, other dogs, food, smoke and an open fire.
A short fixed lead is preferable around the fire.
Dog places may be limited, so please check the information for your chosen night when booking.
Assistance dogs are welcome.
ACCESSIBILITY
We want to make it as easy as possible for people to understand whether a Forest & Fire Pit Night will work for them before booking.
These are outdoor woodland events taking place after dark. Paths can be uneven, muddy, wet and slippery and parts of a woodland route may be difficult for some wheelchairs and mobility aids.
Accessibility will vary between locations.
For our Ironbridge events, please contact us before booking if you use a wheelchair, mobility scooter or walking aid, or have another access requirement.
We'll talk you through the route, surfaces, distances and facilities so you can decide whether the evening is suitable for you.
Where the woodland walk isn't suitable, please ask us about the possibility of joining us for the fireside part of the evening.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Then there's a reasonable chance we'll get wet.
These are autumn and winter woodland evenings and a little rain is part of being outside at this time of year.
Wear warm layers, proper outdoor footwear and bring a waterproof if the forecast suggests you'll need one.
We won't automatically cancel because of rain.
We will, however, always put safety first. High winds, storms or other conditions can make woodland activities unsafe.
If we need to postpone or cancel an evening, we'll contact everyone who has booked.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Warm clothes.
Outdoor footwear.
Layers.
Something waterproof if it's raining.
And preferably nothing you're going to worry about getting a little muddy or smelling of woodsmoke afterwards.
This isn't the night for your best shoes.
IS FOOD INCLUDED?
Yes – but this isn't dinner.
Your ticket includes a made-to-order hot drink, a large bakery-made cookie and marshmallows for toasting.
We'll provide allergen information and ask about relevant dietary requirements when you book.
If you're likely to be hungry, we'd recommend eating beforehand. Embers restaurant is situated on the site and has a fabulous menu! Visit emberscafe.co.uk for more information and availability.
WHY WILD ISLE?
Wild Isle Outfitters is a small Shropshire business inspired by nature and the wild isles.
We make and curate clothing and useful things for spending time outdoors.
But we've always thought Wild Isle should be about more than the things we wear.
It's about where we wear them.
The walks.
The coast.
The woods.
Cold mornings.
Campervan weekends.
Places we return to.
And the people we meet along the way.
So we're starting to create more reasons for our community to actually get outside – walks, gatherings, workshops and seasonal experiences.
